isnt t.i still spittin? how about luda? how about outkast? how about nappy roots? t.i. got b.o.b now..weezy killin it wehter u like him or not. i hera what u sayn and yes i dont care for soulja boy or d4l but they do not define southern hip hop music. thats just what u see on tv. blame that on recod labels not southern artists. in the south we like good beats..thats what it is. we dont care for the "grimy" sound that NY normally goes for. but i like all music. if you making good music ill support. its just hard to support east coast dudes cuz yall always talkin down. i mean there's music from your region that we dont favor as much as you do but thats bc its a regional sound. i do think lyricism will make a comeback though. i just hoep dudes can focus ont he music and stop puttin each other down

@Phil- As artists, I'd say the qualify as straight up "pop" singers, but it's 2009 baby so even though the verses have melodies, the delivery on these songs is rap, particularly the Sean Kingston tune. Maybe calling
"Blame It" rap is a stretch but I just can't think of it as pop or R&B. Maybe because I think all R&B has to sound like "Anytime" by Brian McKnight.

good analysis of what's happened and what is happening. I would add that the pop sound is taking a lot from Europe now. In the UK, we have electro, 80s, dance, rnb, rap mashups. And I can see that crossing over to the US, for example Busta Rhymes+Estelle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYgthVyj2wU
